In the first days of May, a woman, now exasperated and terrified of her ex, showed up at the Flying Squad offices of the Cosenza Police Headquarters, determined to tell the police about the drama she had been experiencing and suffering since last month. November.
The woman, visibly frightened and worried, told the police that several years ago she had had a relationship with a man who she then saw again last year and with whom, on that occasion, she exchanged her mobile number for the sole purpose of aim to continue to feel for simple friendship.
After a short period of time, however, the man transformed the blossoming of a new friendship into an obsession for the woman. The messages, sent through an instant messaging application, soon turned into a tool for insults and threats of violent action and even death. The woman's strong concerns then increased after she suffered some damage and an attempted fire at her home.
The escalation of persecution found its epilogue last May 13, when the man, again through the same application, sent the woman a photo depicting a gun and in the background the neighborhood where she lives. The event was promptly reported to the emergency number 113, searches began and the man, traced near his home, was found in possession of a blank pistol. kept in the car, and 35 cartridges of a common firearm, illegally possessed, found in the house.
The investigation, launched following the woman's complaint, coordinated by the Cosenza Public Prosecutor's Office directed by the Chief Prosecutor Dr Mario Spagnuolo, made it possible to ascertain the alleged crimes and bring the man to justice.
All this is communicated in compliance with the rights of the suspect (to be considered presumed innocent in consideration of the current phase of the proceedings until a definitive finding of guilt with an irrevocable sentence) in order to guarantee the right to freedom of the press.
