Cosenza: attempts suicide in the local hospital, saved by the policeman on duty
Last weekend a thirty-year-old woman was attempting suicide by throwing herself from a railing at the canteen of the Annunziata Civil Hospital in Cosenza but the insane act was not completed thanks to the timely intervention of the Officer in charge of the permanent position of Police.
The policeman's attention was attracted by the screams of a woman from inside the square, which is why he hurriedly exited his office noticing the presence of the same woman who, after having climbed over the railing located on the stretch of road on the service canteen side, was screaming disconnected sentences demonstrating clear suicidal intent.
The Officer, with due caution, tried to bring the woman back to calm by making her desist from the insane gesture; she herself, in her conversation, reported that she had been discharged, against her will, from the psychiatry department and that, if they had not let her return to continue treatment, she would have thrown herself from the railing.
At the same time, while a Healthcare Worker and the Security Guards distracted her, the policeman, with a sudden move, climbed over the railing to get behind her and, grabbing her firmly by the arm, placed her safely on the pavement.
The woman was entrusted to the care of health workers who requested psychiatric advice and was subsequently entrusted to a relative as a support administrator.
