Corigliano Rossano: segregated at home to prevent her from having contact with the Western world, a North African in prison.

Yesterday evening the Carabinieri of the Rossano station, part of the Territorial Department of Corigliano Rossano, with the investigative coordination of the Castrovillari Public Prosecutor's Office, directed by the Chief Prosecutor Alessandro D'Alessio, carried out a precautionary measure in prison against a 49-year-old North African, as he is seriously suspected of the crimes of "mistreatment in the family" and "sexual violence".

Before continuing with the reconstruction of the facts, it seems appropriate to point out that the news is disseminated to guarantee the prerogatives of information and in respect of the rights of the suspect - who still has to be considered subject to the presumption of innocence given the current phase of the proceedings, the whose criminal responsibilities can only be ascertained through a sentence that has become irrevocable.
The story in question is unfortunately similar to that of many girls who reach our country and find themselves having to deal with an integration often hindered by family members and customs of their countries of origin.

In this case, the young North African, shortly after the beginning of 2024, had decided to join her father in Italy, who had settled in Corigliano Rossano for years and was engaged in occasional jobs as an agricultural laborer and domestic worker.

The girl's expectations were to be able to integrate as soon as possible, attending Italian courses and finding a job that could guarantee her at least financial independence. But her father's jealousy prevented all this, so much so that the man effectively segregated her at home, preventing her from having any type of contact with the outside world and carrying out suffocating control over all her possibilities. to socialize with others, including the «Social Networks».

Despite this, the foreigner, in his pathological implementation of control over his daughter, unfoundedly suspected that the girl might have made acquaintances who, in some way, pushed her to integrate with the "Western way of life".

The worm of jealousy therefore led the North African to implement oppressive behavior towards his daughter, which often culminated in real physical and psychological violence. Attitudes that left marks and bruises on the girl's body and which could represent the prelude to something much more serious, as the non-EU citizen used to underline to intimidate his daughter and force her to comply with all her orders.

Man's authority, in recent times, had also taken a morbid drift, with attentions and approaches that have also allowed the second charge to be classified against him, the one relating to the sexual sphere. Conducts which, once they emerged, were immediately represented by the men of the force to the investigating judiciary.

For these reasons and with the primary aim of preventing the crimes in progress from being brought to further and much more serious consequences, the GIP of the Court of Castrovillari issued a «precautionary measure in prison» against the person deemed responsible for conduct similar to the criminal violations listed. In the meantime, the girl has been relocated to a different facility and all the protection protocols provided by the Law have been implemented with respect to her.
The arrested foreigner was taken to Castrovillari Prison, where he will remain at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
