Two officers dived into the canal to try to save the car's passengers. They opened the door of the BMW e pulled out the bodies of the two young people, who however could not be resuscitated despite the attempts of the Suem medics. One of the two boys still showed signs of life, but despite cardiac massage, he died shortly after.
Meanwhile, rescuers identified a third person in the car, the 33-year-old Moldovan, who was asking for help in a faint voice. He was removed from the cockpit and taken to the ground, where he was immediately transported by helicopter to the hospital in Mestre, where he is now in intensive care with a reserved prognosis.
Initially, there were fears that a fourth person might be missing, but searches turned up nothing. The Suem air ambulance landed on site to provide medical assistance and transport the survivor to hospital.
