Casal di Principe (Caserta), usury and extortion aggravated by mafia methods: 5 people arrested

Today the military of the Company Carabinieri of Casal di Principe have executed an order for the application of precautionary measures, issued by the GIP at the Court of Naples, at the request of the local District Anti-Mafia Directorate, against 5 people (3 in prison, 2 under house arrest), held responsible, for various reasons, for "extortion aggravated by the mafia method, damage following fire and usury".

The investigations, conducted by the military and coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office, have made it possible to shed light on an extortion episode committed, da part of subjects historically linked to the Casalesi clan, ai damages to two subjects in the period between February 2024 and today.

The victims would have been subject to requests for money amounting to approximately 100.000,00 euros, arising from a previous debt of approximately 45.000,00 euros given, at a usurious rate, by one of today's suspects. The creditor, together with elements belonging to organized crime, he would have organized meetings to order the victims to repay the sum owed. However, these meetings would not have had the desired effect, leading the recipients of the measure to decide to take action. In April, some of the suspects apparently went near the home of one of the two victims and set fire to some cars, subsequently found not to be attributable to them.

The event would have had the desired effect by leading the creditors to pay, in the hands of his companions, the amount of approximately 5.000,00 euros as the first installment of payment of the debt owed.
