The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Section of the Mazara del Vallo Company recovered, after a short chase, a stolen car in Campobello di Mazara.
The victim, around 15pm yesterday, parked his Opel Astra car in front of his home, leaving the keys inside as he only had to stop for a moment. Taking advantage of the circumstance, a foreigner boarded the vehicle and fled. However, the owner noticed what was happening and immediately contacted 112 to report the theft.
The search note was immediately distributed to the patrols in the circuit who, in possession of the details provided by the applicant, set out on the trail of the alleged perpetrator of the theft.
The car was intercepted by the Carabinieri while it was speeding along the SS 115 towards Mazara del Vallo. After making a U-turn and a short chase, the Carabinieri recovered the car abandoned in the middle of the road by the non-EU citizen who, seeing the Gazelle with sirens blaring a few meters away, left the car and fled on foot through the countryside.

The vehicle was finally returned to the rightful owner who thanked the Carabinieri for the timely intervention that allowed the vehicle to be found. The military is already on the trail of the alleged perpetrator who will soon be referred to the Marsala Public Prosecutor's Office.
The activity is part of the intensification of the territorial control services put in place by the Mazara del Vallo Company which, over the weekend, reported 10 people to the competent Public Prosecutor's Office of Marsala for various crimes including theft of diesel, robbery of a mobile phone, evasion, driving without a licence, carrying weapons or objects capable of offending and failure to comply with the provisions imposed in the provision prohibiting access to urban areas.
