Campobasso: reclamation of an illegal landfill, the quantity of material found is impressive.

An important cleanup of an illegal landfill near the hospital area, shortly after the former Cattolica roundabout, has been successfully completed.
The operation, commissioned byEnvironment Department of the Municipality of Campobasso and carried out by specialized personnel in collaboration with the SEA – Services and Environment of Campobasso, it was necessary to remove a huge accumulation of special waste present for at least 10 years inside a gully into which materials of all kinds have been repeatedly spilled from the edge of the road above.
The dense vegetation and the inaccessibility of the site made the operations that required particularly complexuse of different means lower yourself from above with one crane directly into the ditch.

The quantity of material found, mostly, is impressive roofing tar sheets (over 2 tons) – evidently disposed of illegally by some unscrupulous construction company – but also many tires (4 quintals), carcasses of household appliances (2 quintals) and lots of glass and others unsorted waste (over one ton) for a total of approximately 4 tons of material recovered and sent for correct disposal.

“Environmental protection – declares the Councilor Simone Cretella – also involves the control and monitoring of the territory. This environmental remediation intervention is in fact yet another in a long series carried out by the municipal administration in our territory on sites that have been compromised for many years and never affected by cleaning and rehabilitation interventions. Fortunately, the city area does not present any serious critical issues linked to the phenomenon of illegal landfills, also thanks to the timely and timely monitoring and intervention action by SEA and the Municipality".
