Brescia, explosion in a dental office in Ospitaletto: serious burns for the dentist transferred to Genoa, injuries to the assistant and the patient

Brescia, a Bunsen burner, an instrument used to heat dental tools, caused a strong explosion in a dentist's office in Ospitaletto. The dramatic event occurred in the late afternoon of October 19, during a routine procedure.

The explosion occurred while a 14-year-old patient, the dentist and his assistant were present in the office. Everyone was injured: the girl managed to walk away causing only superficial damage, the assistant was taken to the emergency room under yellow code, while the dentist suffered the worst consequences, namely third degree burns to his face and chest.

Hospitalization did not prove sufficient in the case of the dentist, whose burns required transfer to the Gaslini Hospital in Genoa, where he can be treated in a specialized manner.
