Brescia, we celebrate the 110th anniversary of the foundation of the city police headquarters

Brescia, this afternoon on the anniversary of 110th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Police Headquarters local, in the presence of the Chief of Police - General Director of Public Security Prefect Lamberto Giannini, of the Deputy Chief Prefect Vittorio Rizzi, of the Prefect of Brescia Attilio Visconti and of the Police Commissioner Giovanni Signer, the monument to the Fallen of the State Police, designed and created by young students of the “Santa Giulia” Academy of Fine Arts in Brescia.

The choice of the work, placed at the entrance to the Police Headquarters, saw that of Andrea Previtali, a student of Monumental Sculpture at the Academy, prevail among the various projects presented.

On this occasion, the scholarships donated by the National Association of the State Police of Brescia and dedicated to the Chiefs of Police, Prefects Vincenzo Parisi and Antonio Manganelli and to the Chief Inspectors of the State Police Rosario Sanarico (who fell in the performance of duty) were awarded. ) and Sandro Colonna (victim of Covid – 19). The winners were awarded by Maria Rosa Parisi, Adriana Piancastelli Manganelli, Antonella Sanarico and Annalisa Colonna, accompanied by their daughter Beatrice.

“I take this opportunity to extend an affectionate greeting to all my colleagues who work in the province of Brescia who did so much in the darkest moments of the pandemic. I am convinced that we must start again now, because the restart is important and in the restart a lot is asked of us and we will give a lot! We will give it where we are used to being, in the streets, in the squares and close to the people because I think that our task is to accompany this restart by trying to give the best of ourselves so that everything happens safely and in compliance with the rules, but also to honor with our action those who are no longer here, those who gave their all by sacrificing their lives for us, for the citizens, for the State Police and for Italy" these are the words of the Chief of Police Lamberto Giannini in his intervention.

Subsequently, in the presence of the Mayor and the Civil and Military Authorities, in the Vanvitellian Hall inside the Palazzo della Loggia, an audiovisual exhibition set up by the students of the "Santa Giulia" Academy of Fine Arts was inaugurated: an ideal journey along the 110 years of the Police Headquarters told by historical photos and period documents that narrate the recent history of the city from the particular point of view of the State Police. Sergio Onger, Professor of Economic History of the Department of Economics of the State University of Brescia, recounts this journey.

The day will end in Piazza della Loggia with the concert of the State Police Musical Band directed by Maestro Maurizio Billi. The first song will be dedicated to the unforgettable Raffaella Carrà. The Brescia singer Francesco Renga performed on stage together with the musicians.
