Bordighera: stabs an acquaintance several times during an argument. The culprit was arrested for attempted murder.

Today, the Carabinieri of the Bordighera Company, assisted by the Carabinieri of Ventimiglia, they executed a custodial order issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Imperia, against a thirty-two year old Romanian citizen resident in Ventimiglia and considered responsible for the attempted aggravated murder of another foreigner of Moldovan origin.

The facts date back to the night of 10 July last, when the Carabinieri of Bordighera intervened in front of a pub in the city of palm trees, where a man had been stabbed during an argument. On site the military ascertained that the victim had been seriously injured and he had a large cut on his abdomen. Taken to hospital in Sanremo in very serious conditions, the man was immediately subjected to a delicate surgery that lasted several hours and only after a few days was he declared out of danger.

The intense investigations conducted by the Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of the Bordighera Company, assisted by the Carabinieri of Ventimiglia, had immediately made it possible to direct suspicions towards another foreigner of Romanian origin that that evening, during a violent argument and in a clear state of alcoholic intoxication, he had pulled out a knife and hit the victim several times causing serious injury, and then drove away in his car.

The careful reconstruction of the facts has therefore made it possible to ascertain that the attacker had acted with particular ferocity in launching the blows, taking advantage of the fact that the victim was momentarily held by another acquaintance and therefore unable to repair himself, as well as in a serious state of drunkenness, a condition which, by his own admission, leads him to act out of control.

This evidence, together with the seriousness of the injuries sustained by the victim, considered potentially lethal, led the Judicial Authority to lean towards issuing the more afflictive precautionary measure of custody in prison against the suspect, the only measure deemed suitable to deal with the high social danger.

At the end of the formal procedures, the foreigner was accompanied to the Sanremo prison, where he currently remains at the disposal of the Judicial Authority, having to answer for the crime of attempted aggravated murder, a crime for which risks over twelve years of imprisonment.
