Yesterday morning, October 01st, the Bologna State Police carried out a targeted “high impact” service, aimed in particular at combating drug dealing and the phenomenon of irregular immigration, by implementing a series of searches on the initiative within the former “Stamoto” barracks.
This military area, which extends over 120.000 square meters, is currently abandoned and consists of 18 dilapidated buildings that have been abandoned for some time now. hosts numerous non-EU citizens, mainly of Maghrebian ethnicity, mostly Tunisians and Moroccans, involved in illicit activities, in particular drug dealing.
In this area, at the moment it is a redevelopment project is planned which should lead to the creation of student housing and public parking.
The “High Impact” Service saw the active involvement of over 300 men and women of the State Police, between personnel of the Flying Squad, the Bolognina Pontevecchio Police Station, the Immigration Office, the Scientific Police, the Crime Prevention Unit, the Mobile Unit, the Flight Unit and the Anti-Drug Canine Units.
Altogether they were 32 non-EU citizens were identified and checked inside, of the following ethnic groups: mainly Moroccans, but also Tunisians, Ethiopians, Somalis and Gambians.
We proceeded toarrest of three subjects Moroccans for the crime of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing, from whom over 30 balls of cocaine.
Four Moroccan individuals were arrested for electricity theft, who had taken advantage of an illegal connection to the electricity distribution network.
Five irregular individuals have been identified on the national territory, photographed on site and treated by the Immigration Office staff who will then proceed to'their removal from the national territory, in particular:
-two Tunisians, an Algerian and a Gambian will be accompanied to repatriation detention centres (CPR);
– a Tunisian will be forcibly escorted to the border, followed by a plane ride for repatriation.
