Agrigento, robbery, threats and personal injury: a 21-year-old Guinean arrested
In the early afternoon of 9 January 2023, staff from the Canicattì PS Police Station intervened in that city center following a report received by the local Operations Room of a person injured and lying on the ground as the victim of an alleged robbery.
Agrigento, robbery, threats and personal injury: a 21-year-old Guinean arrested.
The operating personnel, who arrived on site, were attracted by a subject who was at that moment lying on the ground in an evident state of confusion.
In particular, the operators learned that the subject had suffered a robbery and that, before losing consciousness, he had given information regarding the perpetrator, a 21-year-old Guinean citizen, currently homeless, a person known to the victim.
The staff, in collaboration with that of this Flying Squad, who had arrived on site in the meantime, immediately started looking for the perpetrator of the robbery.
The subject, found a few minutes later at a house located in the center of Canicattì, at the sight of the State Police personnel, made a hasty escape, running through the surrounding streets.
Without ever interrupting the searches along the streets traveled by him, the operators arrived at a house located in the historic district of Borgalino, which from previous investigative information, was indicated as a place used by the criminal.
Although the building appeared uninhabited from the outside, careful searches by the PS operators made it possible to track down the perpetrator of the robbery, hidden inside a locked room.
Therefore, based on what emerged, a personal and local search was carried out, following which the subject was found in possession of various stolen goods and, in particular, the wallet taken from the victim.
This reported that the subject, after attacking him from behind, grabbing him by the neck, had stolen his wallet containing personal effects, documents and the sum of 150,00 euros in cash, and had addressed him with the threatening phrase "this isn't the last time, sooner or later I'll kill you”; she added that it was not the first episode of violence as in recent months she had already suffered the theft of a sum of money of 600,00 euros from the same person.
In light of what was ascertained, the perpetrator of the robbery was arrested, in flagrante delicto of robbery, threats and personal injury.
As ordered by the AG, the arrested person was taken to the Pasquale Di Lorenzo prison in Agrigento.
The restrictive measure was validated by the competent GIP who issued an order to subject the subject to precautionary custody in prison.
