Agrigento, road safety and food transport checks: several violations and more than 5200 euros in fines
Agrigento, nand the three-day road safety campaign, dedicated in particular to the efficiency of tyres, ended in recent days. The 9 patrols of the Agrigento Traffic Police and the Canicattì and Sciacca detachments contested 34 administrative sanctions on 79 vehicles checked. Specifically, 28 sanctions were contested for tread less than that prescribed while 6 sanctions were for cuts or incisions on the tread. It is important to periodically check the condition and pressure of the tyres, i.e. verify that they are free of damage, that the inflation pressure (including the spare wheel) is equal to that indicated by the manufacturer in the vehicle's use and maintenance manual and that tires with the characteristics indicated in the registration document are fitted on the vehicle (series tyres). The efficiency of tires should not be underestimated, as tire failure causes serious road accidents.
The activity to strengthen legality controls in the food transport sector carried out by the Traffic Police was also concluded.
Patrols from the capital section, from the Canicattì and Sciacca detachments, were engaged in order to control this delicate sector, which requires precise technical skills at the time of the investigation. The relevant controls concern the goods transported and are aimed at safeguarding the health and safety of consumers in the food sector, since the correct conservation of the food we consume on our tables depends on them.
The operating agents, also with the help of ASP doctors promptly called to intervene, ascertained numerous violations, with various deficiencies relating to the traceability relating to the transport of 6kg of rock octopuses, with administrative seizure for the purposes of destruction because no longer suitable for human consumption, the lack of documentation relating to the transport of fresh over-the-counter products (fridge snacks), the documentary irregularity of the refrigeration system relating to the transport of frozen foods, and vehicles not inspected.
In total, 12 violations were confirmed, for a total of approximately 5200 euros in fines.
