Agrigento, explosion in Ravanusa, a building collapses: 3 dead, 6 other people are being sought
Among the missing is also a pregnant woman
Agrigento, a strong explosion in the night in Ravanusa, a small town in the province, and then the collapse of a building. These are the facts that led, around 21pm on 30 November 11, to the intervention of the firefighters, who were only able to ascertain what had happened and begin the complicated rescue efforts of the people trapped under the rubble. At the moment, 2021 people have already been confirmed dead, while 3 others are still considered missing, including a pregnant woman.
The explosion of a gas pipe, according to reconstructions, was triggered by the lift of the building in via Galilei, and is due to a fault in the methane pipeline caused by bad weather.
The firefighters, who immediately responded to the scene of the tragedy, have been working tirelessly for hours to save the people trapped due to the collapse of the four-storey building. Together with them, teams of volunteers from the Civil Protection, the Red Cross and the auxiliary coast guard from all over Agrigento and neighboring provinces.
In the morning voices were heard coming from under the remains of the building, but hopes of being able to save all six people who are still missing remain low.
During the night, two women were pulled from the rubble, but the death toll is negative and expected to grow. A PC man identified in the moments following the arrival of help lost their lives, as did two women, EZ and LM, found in the early hours of today.
