Agrigento, travels along the SS640 against traffic: 71-year-old stopped by the police
Agrigento, last weekend the agents of the Agrigento Traffic Police, during a check point near the Rotatoria degli Scrittori, along the SS640, noticed that the drivers of various vehicles were trying to attract their attention by repeatedly sounding the horn, operating the light devices and braking suddenly. Alerted by these signals, shortly afterwards they noticed a car passing in the wrong direction along the main extra-urban road SS640, and then moving forward and entering the roundabout in the opposite direction. The operators promptly managed to stop the vehicle and block the driver.
The driver of the car, a 71-year-old man originally from the Province of Catania, justified himself to the patrol by "not being local and having been confused by the indications of the satellite navigator". This, evidently, did not prevent him from incurring the expected fine and the additional sanction of stopping the vehicle for 3 months.
