11 boxes of marijuana intercepted in a tractor-trailer, the driver arrested for international drug trafficking.

Staff of State Police of the Rome Police Headquarters and financiers from the Provincial Command of the Capital intercepted a loaded with 113 kilograms of marijuana aboard an articulated lorry conducted by a Greek citizen just landed at the port of Civitavecchia from the Barcelona. The yellow flames of the local group and the policemen of the Judicial Police Team of the Civitavecchia Border Police, during the routine checks carried out during the disembarkation operations from the motor vessel, became suspicious when the lorry driver showed signs of nervousness at first questions, deciding to proceed with a more thorough inspection.

Supported by Kurdo, the dog supplied to one of the anti-drug dog units stationed at the port which immediately expressed its interest, agents and soldiers found - hidden among wheelchairs for the disabled, strollers and foodstuffs - 11 cardboard boxes containing bags weighing one kilogram each wrapped in nylon to evade controls. Once sold, the drug shipment would have yielded proceeds of over one million euros.

The “courier” was arrested for the hypothesis of crime of international drug trafficking and associated with the local prison.
