Chieti: groceries and medicines ready at home. The number to request the service is active.

22 July 2024 – Due to the heat and water emergency, the Administration makes available to the communitytwo support services, it is the ready shopping and ready medicine at home until the critical situation persists. The associations will take care of the service municipal civil protection, who will ensure presence and support services, rotating throughout the days. To obtain the intervention it will be enough call the number 0871/307127 active from 8am to 20pm. Please make requests in the morning for delivery in the afternoon, reserving afternoon calls for urgent requests.

“We decided to activate these two functions of the municipal operations center again to provide support especially to elderly and frail people – explains the mayor Diego Ferrara – . Due to the reduction in flow and scheduled closures of the water service, the city is experiencing a crisis extremely uncomfortable situation, supporting it is the minimum, but it is also all that the Municipality can do, as we do not manage the water and can only take note of the certainly critical situation that we are experiencing, together with many other Municipalities in the area. The temperatures of recent days have added to the water crisis, so we have agreed with the civil protection associations on these two services which will allow us to make ourselves available to the most disadvantaged people in a difficult moment.

A more logistical than social support, the social emergency intervention measures remain for particular cases, designed to help those who cannot go out or are alone. These two services have worked well during the pandemic, for which we thank the associations and so that they can express maximum usefulness now, we invite the community to call especially in the morning, reserving the afternoon for the most urgent requests, so that the volunteers can organize themselves for same-day delivery of groceries and medicines.
