The Provincial Police of Chieti, during an anti-poaching operation carried out in recent days in the municipal territory of Poggiofiorito (Chieti), reported a hunter to the judicial authorities for violation of the rules for the protection of wild fauna. Using a new generation acoustic bird-calling device, prohibited for hunting, the man had attracted and killed 66 birds of the Song Thrush species.

The agents of the Provincial Police led by Commander Antonio Miri proceeded to seize the 12-gauge semi-automatic smooth-bore hunting rifle, the acoustic decoy device and the 66 animals hunted using this method prohibited by law.

The operation is part of a broader specific service for the control of the provincial territory which aims to prevent and repress illegal poaching activities especially against wild species that in this autumn period migrate to our territories in search of milder climates.

"The surveillance activity against poaching for the protection of wild fauna is a fundamental commitment of the Provincial Police aimed at preserving the environment and biodiversity, especially during the pre-winter migration period. A round of applause to the personnel of the Provincial Police directed by Commander Antonio Miri for the activity to protect the biodiversity of our territory that is carried out with competence and punctuality", comments the councilor delegated to the Provincial Police Carlo Moro.
