Two arrests by the Carabinieri in a few hours, two intertwined stories.
The first one late yesterday afternoon. Antonio Giugliano, a leading member of the clan of the same name operating in the Poggiomarino area, was arrested for extortion aggravated by mafia methods.

He was inside a car registration agency in Striano and was caught red-handed by the military of the Torre Annunziata investigative unit while collecting 4500 euros in cash from a local businessman.

During the search of the premises, over 37 thousand euros in cash believed to be illicit proceeds were seized, neatly distributed in 11 envelopes.
Giugliano was taken to prison, awaiting trial.

A few hours later, the Carabinieri discovered that the agency, where the arrest was made, was also run to provide support for Giugliano's extortion activity.
The owner, a 40-year-old with no criminal record from Striano, ended up in handcuffs for complicity in extortion aggravated by mafia methods. In his possession, an additional 5 thousand in cash and 20 thousand euros in checks.
The 40-year-old also ended up in prison.
