I Carabinieri of the Provincial Command and the Catanzaro Forestry Group they started a environmental monitoring and control plan on a provincial scale, using advanced technological tools such as drones, camera traps and camerasThe goal: to counteract the illegal waste management, the illegal discharge of waste water, violations in the field of forestry and crimes against natural heritage.

The balance of the activity, conducted in the last month, speaks clearly: 18 people reported, seizure of a property, an industrial warehouse, a construction company, three trucks, two excavators, eleven abandoned vehicles and antotal area of ​​2.000 square meters.

The determining factor was the capillarity of the Forestry Units and Stations, which ensured targeted and constant control throughout the territory.
Thanks to the technical means of surveillance, they have been documented five episodes of illegal waste management, two dumpings of non-hazardous waste, three illegal wastewater discharges , failure to keep loading and unloading records by a company.

Among the most significant cases:

• A San Vito sull'Ionio, two workers of a construction company were caught while they uprooted five olive trees without authorization.

• A Carlopoli, three people have been reported for the illegal extraction of earth and rock material in a state-owned area along the Corace River.

• Ad beloved, five individuals were carrying out unauthorized works on protected landscape assets, resulting in a complaint.

In 'Lamezia Terme area, the use of drones and camera traps has allowed us to identify four people responsible for theabandonment of waste along a peripheral road and to ascertain illegal industrial waste coming from a oil mill, leading to the seizure of the building and equipment.

The action of Carabinieri will continue with a dual objective: repress environmental crimes e promote the culture of respect for the environment.
