The Massa Carrara State Police continues to be intensely committed in strengthen crime prevention and combating activities in the province. A was carried out extraordinary inter-force service for the control of the territory with “High Impact” in Villafranca in Lunigiana, for counter criminal activities, such as theft, drug dealing, as well as in particular the phenomenon of irregular immigration, also following reports from resident citizens, decided by the Committee for Public Order and Safety chaired by Prefect Guido Aprea and issued by Ordinance by Police Chief Santi Allegra.

The activity was carried out by personnel from the Police Headquarters Flying Squad, the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza, the Villafranca Local Police, with the assistance of the Crime Prevention Unit of the State Police "Tuscany" of Florence, a special request made by the Police Chief for the “High Impact” service and was aimed at avoid episodes of widespread petty crime that cause particular social alarm and jeopardize the well-being and safety of citizens as well as to identify potential subjects not connected to the territory and present for various and illicit activities. In this context, a quota of personnel from the Immigration Office of the Police Headquarters also took part in the checks in order to verify the presence of irregular subjects as well as the correct functioning of the CAS in the area.

Overall, the operators have 45 people were identified, including 17 with police records, 17 non-EU citizens, and 28 vehicles and 5 commercial establishments were checked. They were apartments were also checked which, according to reports, were occupied by non-EU citizens who did not have a regular rental contract, whose position is currently being investigated with regards to possible subleases.
