Casoria: two young people, minors, were found in possession of two knives. "There is nothing wrong, it is normal" the justification given to the Carabinieri
The Carabinieri's prevention campaign continues with a balance that speaks of 2 weapons seized per day. More weapons than last year
Casoria: two young people, minors, were found in possession of two knives. “There is nothing wrong, it is normal” is the justification given to the Carabinieri.
They are 17 and 15 years old and will have to answer for illegal carrying of weapons the minors who were stopped last night in Casoria and in the Arpino district by the Carabinieri of the local company engaged in an extraordinary control service of the territory.
“There’s nothing wrong, it’s normal.” This is the disarming response of the two minors to the questions of the police as to why they had 2 folding knives. The boys – stopped on Via Principe di Piemonte – were reported and handed over to their respective parents. The weapons were seized.
During the operations, the military identified 75 people and checked 56 vehicles for 15 violations of the highway code and 7 seized cars.
The provincial command of the Carabinieri of Naples reaffirms its commitment to theeighth to the illegal possession of weapons, especially among the youngest.
From January to August the Carabinieri have seized throughout Naples and its province 190 firearms, 248 cutting weapons and 81 improper weapons such as knuckle dusters, clubs and nunchucks.
519 weapons seized for an average of just over 2 weapons seized per day not counting the 194 bullets found during the extraordinary territorial control operations.
In the same period last year, a total of 404 weapons were seized. The figure, which has increased, highlights a greater number of weapons in circulation but also a more effective preventive activity by the Carabinieri.
The awareness campaign:
In a poster created by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Naples, a silhouette of a young man holding a gun and symbolically pointing it at a mirror, at his own reflected image.
In violence there are no victims or executioners, this distinction does not hold.
The product was made by the military of the press room of the Provincial Command of Naples, in multiple colors.
Whoever holds a knife or a gun must feel the crushing weight of a reckless, crazy and impulsive gesture. Whoever pulls the trigger or injures with a blow pollutes many lives but above all his own.
That dark figure is a universal silhouette, emptied of all color. It is a dress in which anyone can feel comfortable. Because violence corrupts the mind and a gun in hand brings security. Apparent security.
On many occasions we have told of very young people stopped during the various checks in the city and province. Of their justifications when a knuckle-duster or a blade jumped out of their pockets: "I need it to defend myself!", "I need it to stay safe!".
Nothing could be more wrong.
Responding to violence with more violence triggers a a roundabout of evil, with a beginning but never an end.
The spread of this image is happening on a large scale, in local schools, in barracks, in parish centers, in theaters, cinemas and all the legality outposts of the province. The initiative has found the support of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples, the Juvenile Court, the Prefecture, the Neapolitan Curia and will pave the way for a whole series of awareness initiatives promoted by the Carabinieri of Naples to “disarm” the younger ones. Among these is the creation of a brochure for school children which lists valuable advice and information to avoid falling prey to the call to arms.
One way for to weaken the violence that fuel the news every day and this is only the latest episode that warns us that we must continue to raise awareness.
