San Cataldo (Caltanissetta), missing person found in the countryside
The Carabinieri Operations Centre in Caltanissetta was alerted in the early afternoon by their counterpart in Enna following the disappearance of a 77-year-old woman, which occurred on the afternoon of 13 November, while she was on board her car in the Enna area.
The report came directly from the missing person, who, realizing he was lost, tried several times to alert the emergency services, calling the NUE “112”, but was unable to provide any information on his position, until the battery of his cell phone ran out.
The Prefecture of Caltanissetta then activated the Missing Persons Search Plan, involving the Carabinieri, the Fire Brigade and the other Police Forces of Caltanissetta.
The search was therefore immediately launched in the San Cataldo area, in synergy between the Police and the Fire Brigade, and after a careful and detailed analysis of the phone calls made to the woman during the afternoon, the men of the Carabinieri Operations Centre in Caltanissetta managed to trace the probable position of the elderly lady, providing indications to the departments employed in the search.
At 22:30 pm, a patrol of the Radiomobile located the wanted car, bogged down and hidden by tall vegetation in the “Casa Deliella” district of San Cataldo, where the woman was inside in an evident state of confusion.
Immediately rescued, she was entrusted to the care of the “118” paramedics, who immediately transported her on board an ambulance to the emergency room of the “Sant'Elia” hospital in Caltanissetta. After undergoing a medical examination and finding her to be in good overall health, the elderly lady was returned to her family.
