Murder in Gela: 64-year-old woman killed by her partner.

The Carabinieri of the Carabinieri Territorial Department of Gela, at the end of thorough investigations, they carried out precautionary custody order in prison issued by the Court of Gela, at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office, against 40 year old of Romanian origin, investigated for themurder of a 64-year-old compatriot, which happened last September 17 in Gela; the accused is also accused, in the preliminary proceedings, of the following: aggravating circumstances of having committed the crime against a person living with them or in any case linked by an emotional relationship.

In particular, the story originates from the intervention carried out by the Carabinieri on the night of last September 17th in a house in the centre, where the presence of the lifeless body of a woman.

The initial testimonial information gathered described a situation apparently free from any possible violent dynamics related to the death, as in-depth investigations would later reveal: The woman had apparently returned home a few hours earlier in an evident state of drunkenness, even asking for help to walk, and then lying down before death.

But the widespread bruises on the victim's body and the technical findings carried out at the scene of the discovery already told much more and different from this first version, as subsequently ascertained by the converging investigative emergencies and corroborated by the autopsy examination.

The declarative contents collected by the Carabinieri, under the direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Gela, allowed the investigations to be directed towards the person arrested today, the subject of violent nature and who had already caused personal injuries to the victim several times in the past, never reported for fear of retaliation.

The preliminary report on the judicial autopsy performed on the woman's body corroborates the circumstantial evidence assumed by the declaratory sources: according to what was ascertained by the coroner, in fact, the cause of death was attributed to "severe cranial-encephalic polytrauma and closed abdominal thorax, resulting in cardiac failure", lesions attributable to a traumatic nature and to theviolent mechanical action by third parties – exercised with punches and kicks but also by hitting the head against a rigid structure – while compression and crushing mechanisms would have been carried out on the chest and abdomen as described in detail in the precautionary measure with “the attacker who straddles the victim.”

The Judge for Preliminary Investigations at the Court of Gela, sharing the circumstantial evidence that forms the basis of the request for precautionary measures formulated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, has therefore issued an order for the application of the measure of pre-trial detention in prison against the suspect.
