Caltanissetta: video surveillance against waste abandonment, Aiello: "Zero tolerance for those who dirty the city"

The checks carried out in synergy between the Municipal Police, the technical office and Dusty allowed the identification of 10 offenders.

"Zero tolerance against those who dirty the city by damaging the environment that belongs to everyone“, this is the driving principle that has pushed the municipal administration of Caltanissetta, recently awarded the “Comune Plastic Free” prize for its commitment to raising awareness and implementing environmental policies, to implement control and sanctioning actions against offenders.

"Our goal is to educate citizens to correctly protect the environment thanks also to the use of suitable trolleys for separate waste collection.” explained theCouncillor for the Environment and Municipal Police Oscar Aiello. An intent that, to be truly put into action, must necessarily pass through the sanctioning of those who do not respect the rules of civil coexistence.

Thanks to the video surveillance system, installed as a deterrent to crimes but also to identify any culprits, 10 citizens who abandoned waste in unsuitable places were reported and identified.

"I would like to thank the managers Diego Peruga and Giuseppe Tomasella, the employees of the Municipal Police and the technical office and the Dusty operators for their commitment to environmental controls – continued the councilor -. The cameras are a valuable tool to protect our environment and fight the indiscriminate abandonment of waste. The targeted checks are daily and are already producing concrete results and I appeal to citizens inviting them to regularize their position making sure to respect environmental regulations. Following the administrative measures we have been informed that some of the sanctioned condominiums have equipped themselves with adequate trolleys, committing to respect the regulations and the abandonment of waste in the area has drastically decreased. This confirms the correctness of our strategy. A cleaner city is not only more aesthetically pleasing to the eye but also healthier because it guarantees against the proliferation of diseases and pests that are dangerous to the health of citizens. Civic respect for the environment, therefore, is not only an ideal to pursue but a necessity to be expected from everyone. And we will work to ensure that it is respected".
