The Guinness World Records recognition will be celebrated on Saturday 20 April at the Foyer of the Regina Margherita Theater in Caltanissetta. The longest Cannoli in the world".

An objective attempted and achieved in Corso Umberto in Caltanissetta on 11 September 2022 when a close-knit team of around a hundred pastry chefs and chefs from all over Italy coordinated by master pastry chef Lillo Defraia, created a crunchy wafer, filled with approximately 400 kg of ricotta, 21 meters and 43 centimeters long.

The entire process, from cooking in the kitchen to serving, took 12 hours. Although the measurement carried out in the presence of the judge indicated the record figure, the official validation, from London, arrived on 22 January 2024.

"With note – pastry chef Lillo Defraia and past president Ristoworld Italy Marcello Proietto di Silvestro commented with satisfaction – Guinness World Records has officially communicated the validation of the record and the registration of the record which fills us with joy and rewards over 4 years of choral work. The longest cannoli in the world is Sicilian. Our <> goes to all the partners who sponsored the project, to the white jackets, to all the volunteers and to those who contributed to this incredible record, together with Pasticceria Internazionale, media partner of the event".

Luigi Li Veli and Robert Sherman were present to assist the two organizers and the entire operational pool in the procedures to conquer the Guinness.

The initiative saw the patronage of the Sicily Region Department of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment, City of Caltanissetta, Sac Società Catania Airport, Caltanissetta Chamber of Commerce, Proloco, Confcommercio and public and private partners who gave life to a fantastic moment.

"When it comes to cannoli – comments the municipal administration which in 2022 strongly supported this event, together with the entire City Council and the relevant offices – one cannot help but think of the “glove” full of freshly filled desserts served on Sundays at the table with the reunited family. The cannoli represents the culture and traditions of our territory, as well as the warmth and spirit of sharing that characterizes our people. For the City of Caltanissetta it is an immense pleasure to advertise the typical Sicilian pastry shop thanks to the creation of the longest cannoli in the world. Master pastry chefs from all over Sicily and other regions will collaborate in the creation. All this was possible thanks to the coordination of Ristoworld Italia, which deals with safeguarding Italian food and wine heritage".

The details of the final validation phases will be illustrated on Saturday 20 April during a press conference which will take place from 10.00 am at the Foyer of the Regina Margherita Theater in Caltanissetta, in the presence of the municipal administration, the pastry chef Lillo Defraia and the past president of Ristoworld Italy Marcello Proietto di Silvestro and the institutional political representatives of the territory who strongly wanted this moment of growth and sharing.

The celebratory event was deliberately included in the calendar of "The Road to Terra Madre" which will take place in Piazza Garibaldi in Caltanissetta on 20 and 21 April 2024 and organized by Slow Food Italia and Slow Food Sicilia with the contribution of the Municipality of Caltanissetta.

The choice to combine the two events was dictated by the common use of the material. Cannolo returns as the protagonist during an event that celebrates the valorisation of traditional grains and, specifically, Mallorca flour. And it is to better discover and enhance our local products that the municipal administration invites citizens to participate in all the events scheduled this weekend.
