An innovative project involving citizens and students to improve urban public transport and promote sustainable mobility.

Caltanissetta: Smartanissetta campaign for public transport launched.

Caltanissetta ever closer to the needs of its citizens and ready to listen to their requests to provide services increasingly calibrated to real needs.

Thus was born “Smartanissetta – discover innovation that takes you far”, the project that aims to enhance urban public transport, allowing users to access the service with ease and, at the same time, actively contribute to its improvement over time.

Smartanissetta It was born as a project for the master's thesis of John Bonblood, a student from Nissa enrolled in the Local Development course at the University of Padua, subsequently approved and financed by companies EdisonWeb e WE WILL, with the patronage of the Municipality of Caltanissetta.

The revolution of urban mobility in the city of Caltanissetta will develop through thetechnological innovation , citizen-user participationThe modernization, already underway for months, has introduced:

  • The use of electric buses, already circulating in the city.
  • New systems of Vehicle tracking, which allow you to know where they are in real time.
  • Payment via smartphone, with the possibility of purchasing the ticket directly on the bus.
  • The application “Moove”, downloadable for free from the Apple Store or Play Store.

The goal of Smartanissetta is to spread these innovations and, at the same time, involve citizens to gather suggestions on how to improve public transport. Concrete and localised feedback will be used to design new solutions based on real needs.

For this purpose, several initiatives have been organized:

  • Activities in middle and high schools.
  • Meetings in meeting places.
  • Public events, such as the travelling festival “Smart Move” of last November 22th.
  • A contest to renew the graphics of the paper ticket.

"I thank all those who, with their precious collaboration, support and human and professional availability, have allowed me to realize this project. – declared Giovanni Bonsangue. – In particular, the director of the III Directorate (Mobility) of the Municipality of Caltanissetta Giuseppe Dell'Utri, the CEO EdisonWeb Riccardo D'Angelo, the directors of TIEMME and the professors Alessio Surian, Matteo Bassoli and Giuseppe Inturri”.

The project provides for the dissemination of information through the institutional channels of the Municipality of Caltanissetta and the introduction of a QR Codes to access the website www.smartcl.it, where you can consult timetables and directly access the app Move.

Smartanissetta, with this synergy of intents, aims to promote the culture of mobility through urban transport in a eco-sustainable vision.
