Caltanissetta: Fleeing Italy for over a year, 44-year-old arrested

The Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Territorial Carabinieri Department of Gela together with the military of the Niscemi Station have A 44-year-old man from Niscemi was arrested after he had been wanted for over a year for evading the execution of a provision of cumulative sentences issued by the Attorney General's Office at the Court of Appeal of Lecce for a total sentence of 5 years, 10 months and 11 days for possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing, theft and resisting a public official, committed from 2007 to 2018.

The man had been living in Germany for years, but returned from time to time to meet his family. The Carabinieri, following an investigative activity, having become aware of his presence in the municipality of Niscemi, decided to search his home, finding him inside. During the check, the wanted man was found in possession of approximately 200 grams of marijuana hidden inside a plastic bag and a precision scale and was therefore arrested in flagrante delicto for possession of a narcotic substance with intent to deal.

The man was transferred to the Gela prison where he will have to serve a sentence. In relation to the arrest in flagrante delicto for the drugs found, the Judge for Preliminary Investigations at the Court of Gela validated the arrest and confirmed the precautionary detention in prison.
