This morning, the Carabinieri of the Operational Section of the Caltanissetta Company they carried out a Precautionary detention order against 9 individuals - 6 in prison and 3 under house arrest, against whom serious evidence emerged of crimes committed against elderly guests in a social welfare structure.
The investigative activities, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Caltanissetta, have allowed us to ascertain and put an end to serious incidents of mistreatment e kidnappings against defenseless elderly people. During the investigation, concrete elements emerged regarding harassing behavior by the socio-health workers and property managers, which outline the hypotheses of the crime of mistreatment, kidnapping, abandonment of people ed abusive exercise of health practices. The serious evidence also concerns the fact that the most fragile guests were immobilized in bed with containment means or tied with wheelchair straps, preventing them from making any kind of movement.
The Ordinance also proceeded with the seizure of the property, entrusted to a judicial administrator to allow users more adequate and better care conditions within the residence.
Il Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Caltanissetta continues its commitment in the checks on specific structures, also making use of the Specialized departments of the force, as the Anti-adulteration and healthcare unit.
