Cagliari and Sardinia in the Eighteenth Century: Conferences on History Through Documentary Sources.
The cultural association for social promotion University of the environment, landscape and territory – Sardinia organizes a series of conferences on the theme Cagliari and Sardinia in the eighteenth century through documentary sources. The initiative includes 2 conferences, which will be held in the Events Space on the first floor of the MEM via Mameli n. 164 in Cagliari on 4 and 11 December 2024 at 17 pm.
The project represents an opportunity to delve deeper into a crucial historical period for the Island, highlighting the central role of Cagliari, capital of the Kingdom of Sardinia and protagonist of the political transition events, in constant relation with the other royal cities and with the Sardinian rural-feudal territories.
The topics covered will allow us to analyse the Age of Enlightenment starting from the examination of documentary sources, sometimes unpublished, or in any case little known of a multifaceted and contradictory historical period, in which political and social dynamics of great interest are intertwined and worthy of careful reflection on the reformist consequences of the following century.
The cultural activities promoted by the Association are aimed at a heterogeneous public: students, scholars, tourist guides, history enthusiasts and citizens. The meetings and conferences are free and open to everyone.
They have given their patronage: the Municipality of Cagliari, the University of Cagliari, the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Library and Historical Archive of the Municipality of Cagliari, the Diocesan Historical Archive of Cagliari and of the Metropolitan City of Cagliari.
