Brescia: scams against the elderly, Guardia di Finanza carries out 13 searches and discovers a criminal association.
La Financial Police of Brescia, by delegation of Prosecutor of the Republic of Brescia, launched a large-scale operation, carrying out 13 searches in the provinces of Brescia, Cremona and MantuaThe operations involved 45 financiers, with the support of the “cash-dog” canine units and the SCICO, to search for hidden goods and materials.
The searches were directed against the main suspects of a criminal association responsible for numerous scams, mainly to the detriment of vulnerable people, through an ingenious and fraudulent system.
SCAM METHODS
The illegal activity consisted in the sale of fake gas detectors through "door to door" operators. The latter took advantage of the trust of unsuspecting customers and, using a Portable POS, they charged sums significantly higher compared to those reported in the signed documentation.
The investigations, which started from episodes that occurred in the Brescia area, brought to light a complex criminal organization with operational base in Brescia, composed of 48 Guests.

- 208 confirmed episodes to the detriment of vulnerable people.
- Territorial extension: Tuscany, Liguria, Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Trentino Alto Adige and Veneto.
- Illicit profit quantified in over 2,1 million euros.
OBJECTIVES OF THE OPERATION
The searches are aimed at identifying further evidence of criminal activity, including hidden sums of money and materials, in order to proceed with the confiscation of the illicit profits.
