Brescia, summer camp 2020 in Santa Giulia and Castello

Brescia, 15 June 2020 – Skyrocketing enthusiasm for the children and satisfaction of the parents: a more than positive outcome for the first day of the Summer Camps also organized this year by the Brescia Musei Foundation. You just need to scroll through social media to realize how long-awaited the initiative was. “The summer center in Santa Giulia was confirmed to us on Friday. My daughter jumped for joy. A big thank you to those who made it possible,” writes a mother on Facebook. And again “My grandson will also participate and can't wait”.

The proposal of the summer centers in the city museums, now in its seventh edition, was immediately much appreciated both by the families, who expressed gratitude for the start of the service, always precious but even more so this year, and by the very young guests from 6 to 12 years old, who were finally able to start experiencing a dimension of sociality again, which they had had to completely give up in the last few months of emergency, with the closure of schools and all the other activities dedicated to them.

Great interest and joyful expectation which have translated into a boom in registrations: the weeks of August and September are still free, while the places available until the end of July are practically sold out, even if applications for participation are still accepted using the list formula. waiting, in case of last minute cancellations. We remind you that for information and admission applications the Foundation's CUP is available, active Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am to 16pm and Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10am to 18pm, telephone 030 2977833/ 34, santagiulia@bresciamusei.com. Currently the scheduled deadline for Summer Camps is September 11th, but the date could change based on the start of the 2020/2021 school year.

“For the Brescia Musei Foundation, it is a source of pride to have managed to complete the necessary checks and procedures in record time to start our summer centers as early as mid-June. This entailed great efforts and extra work for our staff, explains director Stefano Karadjov, but we did it willingly in the awareness of the social role that the Civic Museums are called to play in serving the community, even more so in this post-emergency period in which we seek the way to a vigilant but effective return to normality.”

This year there will be two locations for the summer centers of the Brescia Musei Foundation: on the one hand the absolute novelty, namely the Brescia Castle with its magical atmospheres and the possibility of experiencing unforgettable moments among green spaces, the Weapons Museum, towers and bridges drawbridges, and on the other the tradition, that is the Museum of Santa Giulia, also equipped with large open spaces but also with protected rooms in which to host children in case of bad weather.

Both locations are, as we were saying, sold out until July. Seven children are accepted for each shift: in the Castle three were activated this week (perhaps even a fourth could leave soon) for a total of 21 children, while in the Santa Giulia Museum six were offered, for a total of 42 guests.

Many activities are organized by the Foundation's Educational Services staff, based on innovative teaching methodologies for childhood and pre-adolescence, with the creation of multiple weekly programs, so as to always offer new and stimulating reasons for involvement even for children enrolled in multiple shifts.

Maximum attention is paid to the quality of the time spent at the Summer Camps but also to safety and compliance with the protocols required by current legislation on prevention. The number of children participating in each shift is in fact limited, the activities are organized mainly outdoors and the operators, who have received special training, also monitor the maintenance of distances and compliance with the rules.
