Brescia: 5 suspects arrested for fraudulent bankruptcy and seizure of assets worth over 3 million.

Operation by the Guardia di Finanza and the Carabinieri of Brescia: individuals close to the 'ndrangheta were involved, with assets and financial resources seized for a total of 3 million euros.

Brescia: 5 suspects arrested for fraudulent bankruptcy and seizure of assets worth over 3 million.

The staff of the Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza and Carabinieri Company of Brescia they executed a precautionary custody order issued by the GIP at the Court of Brescia against 5 subjects, residents in the provinces of Milano, Sondrio, Monza and Brianza and Taranto. It was also arranged that preventive seizure of financial assets and assets for over 650.000 euros.

The complex investigation, coordinated by the local Public Prosecutor's Office – District Anti-Mafia Directorate, began in 2021The investigation originated from the monitoring of some subjects believed to be close to contexts of organised crime of 'ndrangheta origin, who, through a Swiss company, would have acquired ownership of a Brescia-based company operating in the livestock sector, bringing it to bankruptcy through capital depletion.

In particular, the illicit activity attributed to individuals of Calabrian origin, together with entrepreneurs from northern Italy and an accountant from the province of Monza and Brianza, was characterised by:

  • Purchase of real estate intended for individuals linked to the promoters of the criminal plan.
  • Use of luxury cars.
  • Acquisition of financial resources via prepaid credit cards issued by a Swiss financial platform.

Furthermore, the subjects involved, in addition to having dissipated the company's assets, allegedly benefited from:

  • State-guaranteed funding for a value of over 1.700.000 euros.
  • Advances on commercial credits at banking institutions, originated by invoices for non-existent operations, for a total value of approximately 400.000 euros.

The GIP of the Court of Brescia has issued 5 personal precautionary measures:

  • 2 in prison.
  • 2 under house arrest.
  • 1 person prohibited from carrying out business activities and taking up managerial positions in companies.

It was also arranged that seizure aimed at confiscation for equivalent, for a total amount of over 650.000 €, as proceeds of the illegal conduct.

In addition, the Prosecutor of the Republic of Brescia issued a emergency preventive seizure on sums of money and financial resources equal to over 2.500.000 € and on the shares of a company involved.
