A tragedy strikes the heart of the city: Mamadi Tunkara killed with several stab wounds while going to work.

Murder in Bergamo: security guard stabbed to death in the city center.

An episode of violence shatters the tranquility of the center of Bergamo. In the heart of the city, precisely in via Tiraboschi, a security guard was brutally stabbed to death. The victim is Mamadi Tunkara, a thirty-six-year-old originally from Gambia, known to all as Lookman for his resemblance to the Atalanta footballer. The murder has shaken the community and raised questions about safety in one of the busiest areas of the city.

The dynamics of the crime

The attack occurred shortly before 15:30 p.m., while Tunkara was cycling to work at the Carrefour supermarket where he worked as a private security manager. Along the Pierantonio Cividini passage, a shopping arcade, Tunkara was pushed by a man. He fell to the ground and was stabbed four or five times, leaving him no chance of survival. Emergency services arrived quickly, but there was nothing they could do for the man.

The attacker then fled in the direction of via Moroni, disappearing without a trace. The police, who promptly arrived on the scene, are conducting an intense manhunt, assisted by the forensic police and the footage from surveillance cameras in the area. Several eyewitnesses were interviewed to reconstruct the facts and identify the murderer.

A premeditated crime?

The first investigative hypotheses suggest that this was not a random crime. Sources close to the investigators indicate that the victim and the attacker may have already met, perhaps the day before, and that the killer may have waited for Tunkara to arrive to attack him. The investigations, coordinated by deputy prosecutor Silvia Marchina and supervised by additional prosecutor Maria Cristina Rota, are trying to shed light on a possible personal or past motive.

The profile of the victim

Mamadi Tunkara had been living in Italy for at least five years, residing in Verdello with his brother. After a period of work as a delivery rider, he had settled down as a security guard. Described as a quiet and respected man, Tunkara was a point of reference for the local Gambian community, which meets regularly. “He was a good guy,” a friend told the local press. “We met often, among fellow countrymen. This news left us speechless.”

Immediate reactions and measures

The crime has caused a wave of dismay among the residents of Bergamo. Mayor Elena Carnevali expressed her closeness to the victim's family, declaring: "Security and civil coexistence are fundamental values for our city. Every episode of violence represents a wound for the entire community." She also assured that the administration will collaborate with the authorities to ensure that justice takes its course.

In response to the tragic event, an extraordinary summit of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security has been called for Saturday morning at the Prefecture of Bergamo. The meeting aims to discuss targeted interventions to strengthen security in the territory and prevent further episodes of violence.

A shaken city centre

The murder occurred in a particularly busy area: via Tiraboschi is located near Largo Porta Nuova and the Sentierone, the epicenter of the city's nightlife. With the Christmas markets in full swing and the Ferris wheel in front of Palazzo Frizzoni, the tragedy struck in the pulsating heart of Bergamo's social and commercial life.

The city is anxiously awaiting updates on the case, hoping that the investigation will lead quickly to the identification and arrest of the killer, restoring a sense of security to a deeply affected community.
