Belluno, recycling at the top: second place in Veneto with 86% of waste recycled.

Belluno recycles: the capital is second in Veneto for separate waste collection according to Legambiente's 2024 Veneto recycling municipalities report, drawn up with data made available by the Arpav Waste Observatory.

The capital has once again achieved virtuous numbers on the separate waste collection front, reaching in second place in Veneto for recycled waste in the ranking of provincial capital cities, second only to Treviso. The award ceremony, attended by the environmental councilor Lorenza De Kunovich, was held on Saturday in Rovigo.

"An award that demonstrates how the people of Belluno are naturally inclined to respect the environment in which they live - comments Alderman -. Those born in this area know well how parents teach us from an early age to bring our waste home during excursions or trips into nature; the concept of leaving the environment clean and differentiating is part of our culture and we must be proud of this.".

THE DATA

In 2024 Belluno is ranked second in the Legambiente ranking of the Veneto provincial capitals with a percentage of separate waste collection of approximately 86% and a production of residual urban waste equal to 65 kg/inhabitant per year. The waste sent for disposal, however, stands at just over 90 kilos. This result is in line with those of previous years and can be considered excellent for a provincial capital.

Even the “Urban Ecosystem 2024” ranking by Legambiente, recently published and created in collaboration with Ambiente Italia and Il Sole 24 Ore, rewards the municipality of Belluno which, at a national level with regards to the waste classification, is positioned in 4th place and reports an annual waste production trend of 406,02 kg/inhabitant in reduction compared to 2022 when the quantity was equal to 420,8 kg/inhabitant per year.

"Results that make us proud of our community, of the respect and love that the people of Belluno have for their territory - he concludes the mayor, Oscar De Pellegrin -. We plan to maintain these performances and work to spread awareness and respect for the environment in all areas of daily life, not just within the walls of our homes, and I thank all citizens for the civic sense that they have once again demonstrated.".
