At 10.15 on December 30, a skier, clearly agitated, reached the offices of the Ski Detachment of Selva di Cadore, alerting the staff present at that time that shortly before, his mother-in-law, outside the “Ristoro Belvedere” in Cima Fertazza, had been taken ill and that, at the time, she was sitting on a bench outside the refuge, complaining of severe chest pains.

Given the situation described, The officers immediately reached the person in difficulty, who, although conscious, showed clear symptoms of cardiac distress, such as a feeble voice, pale complexion and slow, labored breathing.

In light of the clinical picture highlighted, the 118 Operations Centre was alerted and, assuming the possibility of an imminent cardiac arrest, decided to send the helicopter into flight with the medical resuscitation unit on board.

In the meantime, the operators were securing the helicopter landing area, which was currently crowded with skiers and occupied by ski equipment.
At 10 the aircraft landed with the medical personnel, who, after the initial stabilization interventions of the patient, a 38-year-old Italian woman, opted to urgently transport her to the hospital in Belluno.
