Bari: Project “Being Adolescents Today” to Explore the Affective and Sentimental Dynamics of Adolescents

Tuesday 10 December, in the spaces of the Family Services Center of San Paolo, in via Marche 1, the project “Being adolescents today”, promoted by the municipal Welfare Department and coordinated by Progetto Città coop. onlus.

A meeting focused on affectivity aimed at boys and girls aged between 13 and 18, led by a consultant and an educator to promote conscious reflection on interpersonal relationships, explore the emotional and sentimental dynamics of adolescents and deconstruct gender and cultural stereotypes.

“Our proposal – he explains the municipal councilor for Justice and Social Welfare and Civil Rights Elisabetta Vaccarella – he means to valorise the protagonism and the physiological capacity for rebellion of an age group, the adolescent one, characterized by the transition from childhood to adulthood, in a process of building one's own identity that often activates elements of dialectical comparison with the adult world, which almost never appears to be a desired goal, to be achieved without having to change it, to aspire to without seeing critical issues and points of distance. The capacity for rebellion of adolescents that becomes a search for their place in the world, in comparison with the dimension of the other, can also be understood as research and rediscovery of beauty, well-being and protagonism".

The five meetings of the project, which aims to promote the empowerment of adolescents, will be held in the five Municipalities of Bari: after the first, dedicated to affectivity, the following ones will deal with the themes of well-being, technology, the city and the future.

The project also includes the creation of five podcasts (one for each of the topics covered), conducted by an expert and some participants in the meetings, where the kids will be able to tell their life experiences and present proposals and ideas that can become a collective heritage as well as a starting point for a horizontal reflection with their peers and with adults.
