Bari: Two minors arrested for cybercrime and dissemination of sensitive data

The State Police, also following information received from an institutional intelligence source and an intense investigative activity directed by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court of Bari, has identified two minors held responsible for having disclosed sensitive data belonging to unsuspecting users, fraudulent credit card numbers and carding instructions on Telegram groups and channels (fraudulent use of credit cards, personal data, money laundering), information and instructions on how to make homemade explosive devices.

During the investigations, carried out by the Operations Centre for Cyber ​​Security of the Puglia Postal Police, together with personnel from the DIGOS of the Bari Police Headquarters, two search warrants against the two young people, respectively in June 2024, shortly before the start of the G7 Summit held in Puglia, and last January.

 

The search carried out in June allowed the discovery and seizure at the home of one of the suspects, a large amount of chemicals, all classified by the Bomb Squad of the Bari Police Headquarters as oxidizers, combustibles, acids, solvents, many of which fall within the legal classification of explosive precursors subject to reporting, the possession of which is prohibited. The following were also found and seized: computer devices used to disseminate information on the manufacture of improvised explosive devices and videos of their explosions.Bari: Due minorenni arrestati per cybercrimine e diffusione di dati sensibiliDuring the January search, in confirmation of the circumstantial evidence that emerged during the activities, Computer devices used by one of the two suspects were found and seized, which contained:

  • video of large firecrackers exploding on public roads, applications to access the Dark Web;
  • programs to perform penetration testing activities and to test the credentials themselves, as well as photos of identity documents and selfies of subjects showing their document, files containing lists of sites believed to be vulnerable to penetration test access;
  • fraudulently obtained credentials for access to portals of banks, telephone operators and other services, information about social media users collected or found online and subsequently disclosed.
