Alessandria: He illegally sold traps for wildlife, fined 1.000 euros

Following a report from the LAC Association – League for the Abolition of Hunting, the Forestry Carabinieri of Asti They intervened at the home of a citizen of the capital who had been noticed selling traps for wild fauna on an internet site – snap-action toothed devices that close violently under the involuntary pressure of any passing animal – and that for this reason he was administratively fined to pay the 1.000 euro foreseen for the violation.

Having ascertained that the traps were being sold on behalf of an acquaintance from Mirabello Monferrato (AL), the Bubbio Forestry Carabinieri, who were on environmental availability duty at the time, were activated and quickly reached the owner of the devices and charged him with the same administrative sanction, in addition to seizing the 18 traps found.

This type of trap, the use and possession of which are expressly prohibited by law, they can cause atrocious suffering to the captured animals, destined to die slowly or to survive sometimes by self-amputating the trapped limb, inevitably reducing the chances of survival in the medium term. Leghold traps also pose a danger to people, especially children who accidentally step on them.
