A scooter and a van collided head-on on the SP40 in Ponte Lambro. The man suffered cardiac arrest, and air ambulance responded.

Ponte Lambro (CO), Fucina district – A very serious road accident occurred this morning at 9.06 along the SP40, in the territory of Ponte Lambro, in the province of Como. The head-on collision involved a scooter and an van with two people on board, transforming an ordinary stretch of road into a maximum emergency scenario.

The dynamics: frontal impact between scooter and van

According to initial information gathered on the scene by emergency responders and law enforcement, the scooter—not a bicycle, as initially suspected—collided head-on with the van. The impact was so violent that the scooter's driver, a man whose age has not yet been released, was left in critical condition.

The occupants of the van, a 30-year-old driver and a 62-year-old sitting in the passenger side, remained apparently unharmed, suffering only minor bruises and a severe state of shock.

When rescue teams arrived, the scooter driver was found on the ground. with multiple traumas and in cardiac arrestThe medical staff immediately began the maneuvers of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Given the severity of the clinical picture, urgent intervention was requiredhelicopter rescue, landed not far from the accident site. The man was quickly stabilized and transferred to red code at the Sant'Anna hospital in Como, with resuscitation in progress.

His condition remains extremely critical.

The others involved: two green codes

The two men on board the van were instead transported to code green at the hospital Erba, for examination. Both reportedly suffered only minor bruises and no serious injuries.

Massive deployment of relief efforts

The following intervened at the scene of the accident:

• Nursing car
• Two ambulances
• Carabinieri of territorial jurisdiction

Law enforcement is now working on a detailed reconstruction of the incident. It's not yet clear whether one of the two vehicles crossed into the oncoming lane or whether the collision was caused by unexpected road conditions.
