Como: Violent fight in Piazza Volta, 20-year-old arrested for attempted murder
The Como State Police, coordinated by the Como Public Prosecutor's Office, during the night between Friday 17 and Saturday 18 January, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, a 20-year-old Italian citizen of foreign origins, with a criminal record for brawling and robbery, strongly suspected of having stabbed, after an argument in Piazza Volta, a 23-year-old Italian citizen of foreign origins, also with a criminal record for drug dealing.
The patrol cars intervened at around 3.00:XNUMX this morning in Piazza Volta where an assault with a person injured by a knife had been reported. The Police, who were a very short distance from the square thanks to the widespread control of the territory in the city center, arrived almost instantly on the scene, noticing the 23-year-old injured and bleeding on the ground, supported by some young people. Their attention was then diverted to a boy who was quickly moving away from the square once he noticed the flashing lights of the patrol cars.
The police officers then immediately reached the 20-year-old who, after briefly escaping, was promptly stopped and searched. From the inspection, the man, in addition to having worn a white jacket with small but evident traces of blood, had hidden in his sock a switchblade, probably the weapon used to injure the victim, which was immediately confiscated.
In the meantime, a 118 ambulance transported the injured 23-year-old to the hospital in red code S. Anna di San Fermo della Battaglia – the victim had stab wounds in the lumbar area of the back and after the first tests he was declared out of danger.
Once at the Police Headquarters, the witnesses were made available to the investigators of the Como Flying Squad who, together with their colleagues from the Flying Squad who operated, took their statements reconstructing the dynamics of the facts.
From an initial reconstruction it would seem that the fight was provoked by vulgar behaviour towards a girl, an acquaintance of the injured boy, a detail that then provoked the violent attack.
From the various testimonies acquired, from the seizure of the probable weapon used to commit the crime, from the other objective elements taken, having heard the PM on duty of the Prosecutor's Office, the 20-year-old was arrested for attempted murder and taken to the Como prison, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority. Further investigations are ongoing.
