The State Police, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Como, on October 1st, arrested for drug trafficking, 24 year old Erbanese of Lebanese origins, resident in the eastern outskirts of Como, with several criminal records for drug dealing, property crimes and possession of weapons.
The investigators of the Como Flying Squad had been following the movements of the 24-year-old from Erba for some time. He was unemployed and had no other legal source of income, but regularly travelled on board brand new, high-end cars between Italy and Switzerland. They suspected that, given his specific criminal record, he had planned and implemented a illegal drug trafficking.
On October 1st, during one of their repeated stakeouts, the police officers of the Flying Squad noticed the young man of Lebanese origins leaving his home in Lipomo (CO) and getting on board a large blue SUV with a Ticino license plate - registered to a car rental company based in Balerna (CH) - heading, suspicious maneuvers, towards the Swiss border.
Both the investigative information acquired over time, as well as the conduct of the moment and the choice of Italian-Swiss customs to expatriate - he was headed to the unguarded border crossing of Drezzo - allowed the Mobile agents to be certain that the 24-year-old was transporting drug.
The car with the driver was then stopped shortly before the border and the policemen proceeded to control. Given the strong possibility that the drugs were present in the car, well hidden, the police asked for and obtained the timely intervention and collaboration of two operational units of the Guardia di Finanza of Como, who arrived on site also with a team of "screwdrivers".
It took just 10 seconds for “Anima”, the name of the Guardia di Finanza drug-sniffing dog that intervened, to signal to its handler the driver's seat of the large SUV.
The inspection with the "screwdriver" finance police then allowed the dismantling of the seat cover and the extraction 8 bags vacuum packed for a total of 548,75 grams of cocaine and cash equal to 350 €.
As part of their investigative practice, the police also went to the 24-year-old's home in Lipomo to carry out a search. search which allowed it to be discovered a further wrapper heat-sealed package containing a small quantity of the same narcotic substance.
Once at the police station, the 24 year old from Erba was identified and taken into custody arrest in flagrante delicto; the PM on duty, informed, ordered the man to be taken to the Como prison.
