Como, war device found in a forest in Albate. The bomb squad intervenes.
On Sunday morning, the Como Police intervened for the securing of a war remnant, discovered by chance by a citizen in a Albate forest.
At around 9:00, a patrol car was sent to the wooded area of Trecallo, following the report of the discovery of a unexploded ordnance. On site, the officers spoke with the 44 year old from Como which had found the object: the man, during a walk, noticed the tip of a bullet emerging from the ground and dug it up, believing it to be harmless. Realizing the danger, he called 112 after having safely removed himself.
The cops then surrounded the area and access was prevented, pending the intervention of the bomb disposal experts of the Department of Milano Malpensa. The specialists have carried out a X-ray scan of the device and subsequently the they removed. From a first assessment, it would seem to be a cannon shell dating back to World War II, but only further analysis will be able to confirm this. The residue will finally be neutralized and destroyed.
After the recovery, the officers inspected the area, finding no other dangerous objects, and the forest reopened to the public.
