Como: he was on board a taxi armed with 7 knives, reported by the State Police.
Yesterday morning, the State Police reported a 43-year-old of Serbian origins resident in Switzerland - Canton of Chur - in possession of a Swiss residence permit, with no criminal record or in any case never registered in the police archives.
A patrol car was sent in front of the police station on Viale Roosevelt, where a taxi driver from Como had appeared in front of the officer on surveillance duty.
The taxi driver, clearly upset, reported that he had accepted a ride from Como to Milano and of having welcomed the 43-year-old Serbian into his taxi, who after getting into the car showed clear signs of emotional instability - alternating laughter, tears and rambling sentences -.
Immediately sensing a potential danger, the taxi driver decided to stop in front of the police station and ask for help.
The patrol officers arrived within moments and made contact with the customer. The man reported that he had arrived from Switzerland in his car, but had then left it in a location in Ticino that he did not remember, continuing on foot to Como.
They also confirmed the behavior of the 43-year-old, made up of mood changes and verbal disagreements as reported by the taxi driver, realizing at the same time that the man had lined a box cutter in his trousers. Having taken delivery of the weapon, the police carried out a more in-depth check both on his person and in the bag he was carrying with him, finding two more knives in his pocket, and another four kept in the bag.
Taken to the UPGSP offices, he was precisely identified, his 7 knives were seized and he was finally reported to have been released for possession of weapons.
Given his evident state of health, a 118 medical unit was called in and accompanied him to the S. Anna hospital in San Fermo della Battaglia (Como), where he was subsequently admitted to the psychiatric ward.
