Carugo: Sales agent hides over 1 million euros from tax authorities. Property worth 120 thousand euros seized

The Financiers of the Provincial Command of the Como Financial Police, on behalf of the local Public Prosecutor's Office, executed a decree of preventive seizure of assets for a total value of approximately 120mila euros, issued by the Judge for preliminary investigations against a self employed worker resident in the province of Como, currently under investigation for the alleged crime of failure to submit VAT and II.DD declarations.

The investigation was triggered by the findings acquired by the Financiers of the Company of grass during an investigation conducted on a commercial agent, active in the household appliance sales sector, which he has not filed any tax return starting from the 2017 tax year.

The Public Prosecutor's Office, on the basis of the sources of evidence acquired, requested the application of the real precautionary measure to the investigating judge of the Como Court who issued the decree with which the preventive seizure, even for equivalent, for an amount corresponding to the evaded taxes.

Following the investigations, a real estate unit at the disposal of the suspect located in the municipality of Carugo for a value equal to the total amount of the actual precautionary measure.

THEtax evasion constitutes a serious obstacle to economic development because it distorts competition and the allocation of resources, undermines the relationship of trust between citizens and the State and penalizes equity, taking away spaces for intervention in favor of the weakest social groups.

Hence the importance of the "surgical" action carried out by the Guardia di Finanza against tax evaders and fraudsters, including through the timely recovery of taxes due and profits unduly obtained by the latter.
