Cantù: extraordinary inter-force territorial control service
Last night, the Como State Police implemented and coordinated an extraordinary inter-force territorial control service, with personnel from the Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza and Cantù Local Police, aimed at controlling entertainment venues in the urban area of Cantù (CO).
Some of the clubs in the centre of Cantù are often frequented by young people who in the past have been the protagonists of harassing and violent behaviour and which on weekend evenings are affected by a significant influx of young people. This phenomenon has been accompanied by episodes of disturbance to the public peace, with uncivilized behavior, often also conditioned by the abuse of alcohol or drugs which, in addition to causing problems for public order and safety, have a negative impact on the perception of safety by resident citizens.
In particular, the extraordinary inter-force territorial control service organised yesterday has been extended to the whole territory of Cantù, then concentrating in the premises surrounding the power plant Piazza Garibaldi, recently the scene of an episode of aggression between young people, the last of which occurred on the night of December 21, 2024, when a 28-year-old was beaten, suffering injuries from shards of glass.
The State Police then coordinated, through a Police officer, a large personnel deployment, which saw nearly 50 operators employed, among the agents of the Como Police Headquarters including those of the Administrative and Security Police Division, the Flying Squad, the Provincial Scientific Police Cabinet and the III Mobile Unit of Milano, of the Carabinieri, of the Guardia di Finanza and of the Local Police of Cantù.
Among the inspected activities, a nightclub was checked, inside which there were over 220 people, despite a lower maximum capacity allowed. The club, whose dancing activity was interrupted precisely to proceed with the capillary counting and control of the people, was then cleared and all the workers present, about twenty, were identified. Due to the presence of people in excess of the number, the owner was reported at large for the violation to the TULPS. The positions of the workers present were also verified by the Guardia di Finanza soldiers who concentrated their activity on the required documentation regarding the regularity of the employment contracts. In-depth analyses are underway on the administrative, management and contractual aspects detected during the inspection, which are being examined for further determinations.
This also extraordinary service of the territory, like those that will follow in the next few days in Cantù as in other areas of the provincial territory, falls within the public safety and legality strategy, in line with the indications that emerged during the technical coordination meetings held by the Prefect of Como Corrado Conforto Galli, and which the Police Chief of Como Marco Calì shares with the other provincial representatives of the police forces for the concrete implementation of the more incisive actions aimed at influencing places and subjects that alter the orderly enjoyment of areas dedicated to the recreation of young people.
