Como, 34-year-old Malian arrested after attacking police officers during a check

La Como State Police arrested a man during the night 34-year-old Malian citizen, regular on the national territory but with several criminal and police records for crimes against the Public Administration and related to narcotics.

The man was stopped and arrested for resisting and assaulting a public official, and reported while at liberty for failure to show residence permit and for refusal to provide personal details.

Shortly after midnight, a Como Police Headquarters Flying Squad was sent in a parking lot on Via Piave, where the presence of a man with a bottle of beer in his hand was reported damaging parked cars.

Once on site, the officers tracked down the reported individual, verifying that no cars showed any obvious damage, but still deciding to proceed with identification.

The 34-year-old without documents, he immediately showed aggressive and offensive attitudes towards the police, putting up resistance to control operations.

Taken to the police station for checks, the Malian has increased the intensity of his aggression, hitting the officers with elbows and kicks.

One of the policemen reported minor bruises, while the man he continued to refuse to provide his personal details, making identification difficult even with the fingerprinting procedures.

Only later, thanks to archive evidence, was it possible to ascertain its identity and rebuild the criminal and police records, that include drug dealing crimes, resistance and violence against a public official, Besides prevention measures already issued against him, as a Oral Notice from the Police Commissioner and an DACUR (Prohibition of Access to Urban Areas) notified in 2024.

After having notified the Public Prosecutor on duty, the 34-year-old was held at the Como Police Headquarters waiting for immediate trial.

At the conclusion of the trial, his position will be reviewed by the Immigration Office for the possible adoption of further administrative measures.
