Pallagorio (KR), the Brettii are reborn at Muzè.

First evening of the winter meeting cycle of Meridian Threads dedicated to the people who inhabited the Crotone hills between 4th and 3rd centuries BC.

Sitting on the steps on the ground floor of the structure, Ettore Bonanno (the moderator) e Filomena Rizzo (the archaeologist who studied and cataloged the Brettian finds in the municipality of Pallagorio), led a cultural evening characterized by great curiosity on the part of the public.

In front of representatives of the local institutions, enthusiasts and the simply curious, the two first introduced the Brettia population to those present and, subsequently, focused on the findings found in the municipality of Pallagorio in the 80s (found from Enzo Panetta of the then Archeoclub of Pallagora) and which were the basis of the archaeologist Rizzo's studies.

There were many questions and considerations from the public (including social media, given the live online broadcast). Moments of discussion that gave birth to ideas, food for thought and memories of the community, such as that of the Pallagorese poet Ophelia Giudicissi (among the first to mention the Brettii in her studies). «This is the Muze which we like – says Ettore Bonanno, the owner of the house -. A dynamic, enterprising and confrontational place. Few formalities and many proposals to revive our community».

We asked Filomena Rizzo what future for these people of the past. The archaeologist replied: «I Brettii they are a population that is still the subject of study and analysis. Our territories are very rich in finds that could accelerate the process of understanding this ancient people. Further research and excavations would be needed to discover them, catalog them and subsequently make them visible to the general public. At the end of this phase of study it would be nice if the community could create a physical place where they could visit them. It would be a new cultural garrison that protects the history and value of these places".
