A tribute to the female figure in the ex-libris of the Lombardo collection
Milano, Sormani: the “Liberty for women” exhibition from March 1st.
On the occasion of Women's Day, Sorman Library, Milanooffers from Wednesday 1 March to Saturday 1 April a small but precious exhibition entitled “Liberty for Women” (opening Wednesday 1 March at 18.30pm).
The exhibition, with free admission, pays homage to the female figure thanks to a selection of Art Nouveau ex-libris belonging to Ivan Matteo Lombardo (1902-1980), journalist, partisan, politician and great Italian collector.
Along the route, set up in the exhibition spaces on the ground floor, they can be admired 45 ex-libris made on paper by various European artists, including Antonio Rubino, Hubert Wilm, Alexandre de Riquer, Hanns Bastanier, Franz Von Bayros, Fidus, A. Cossmann, Arnold Gara, Ismael Smith.
Small and refined masterpieces of graphic art that represent a genre that is uncommon today but very widespread between the seventeenth century and the end of the nineteenth century, in which artists such as Klimt, Wildt, Mucha, Dürer, Boccioni and even Picasso experimented.
