Lecce, Reuse the tower: a design competition for the recovery of the Rinalda Tower.
The competition is online “Reuse the tower”, aimed at selecting project proposals dedicated to the reuse of Rinalda Tower, on the Lecce coast. The sixteenth-century tower, which stands on the beach of the marina of the same name, is today in a state of severe degradation and was stabilized thanks to an emergency intervention in the early 2000s.
Upon proposal of Save the Heritage, the administration agreed to include it among the sites selected in the project “Reuse Italy”, which aims to stimulate designs aimed at recovering small testimonies of the Italian architectural and historical heritage.
There will therefore be space for proposals from professionals who want to compete in the design competition. You have until June 14th to submit your proposal in the required manner. On the page website a short documentary is available on the tower, its origins, its functions, some materials useful for planning.
As an incentive for participation, the competition offers a prize pool of 4 thousand euros which will be awarded for 2500 euros to the first-placed project proposal, 1000 euros to the second and 500 to the third. At the end of the selection, an exhibition of the projects will be organized.
